Individual Counseling

Specializing in anxiety disorders; I give people realistic ways to manage the impact anxiety has on their daily life. Because anxiety causes most people to overthink and worry about everything, it can deeply bring down self esteem , causing uncertainty and self judgement. I use techniques to retrain thinking patterns and remove self doubt. Doing this provides a new perspective; one that is more objective, confident, and that feels authentic and genuine.

Anxiety can look like:

  • Easily feeling overwhelmed

  • Frequent feeling “guilty” for no apparent reason

  • Feeling insecure in relationships (friendships, romantic partners, colleagues, family members)

  • Needing to “stay busy” all the time

  • Struggling to relax

  • Analyzing everything you say (Did that sound dumb? Did I say something wrong?)

  • Often saying to yourself “I should’ve done…..”

  • Inability to make decisions (even small ones)

Couples Counseling

Most couples decide to come to counseling for a specific problem in the marriage. Often the “problems” people are coming to me with are actually a product of lack of communication, connection, and intimacy. I support couples in navigating how to have productive and healthy conflict and feel more emotionally and physically connected to each other.

Signs you could benefit from couples counseling:

  • Having the same argument over and over

  • Not being able to speak your mind because it  might turn into an argument

  • Lack of sex and intimacy

  • Feeling as if you don’t know your partner anymore

  • Feeling lonely even when you are together

What People Are Saying

“My anxiety evolved after a horrific domestic violence event; Emily was always two steps ahead, able to anticipate my needs and work through my trauma with me. I felt safe sharing what I believed were “weird” behaviors but now understand to be a response to actions out of my control. I couldn’t recommend a better therapist.”

“My wife and I could hardly talk to each other without it turning into an argument. Emily helped us figure out what we both were feeling in a completely neutral way without taking sides. I honestly was unsure of couples therapy, but she truly helped us realize what the fighting was really about and how to talk to each other again. She worked with us on ways we could rekindle our spark and gave us the tools we needed to get our marriage back on track.”

“Talking to Emily is like talking to an old friend.  Our sessions are engaging, sometimes challenging and always supportive. She has many resources and techniques she draws upon that helped me boost my development in between our time together. I would highly recommend Emily to anyone who needs help dealing with anxiety.”
